A popular WWE superstar has officially announced that they will be departing the company when their contract ends, leaving an 11-year career behind.
What WWE star is leaving the company after 11 years?
Tommaso Ciampa, real name Tommaso Whitney, announced on Instagram that he would be leaving WWE after 11 years when his contract ends “in the very near future.” In his statement, Ciampa noted that he wanted to thank all those in the company that helped him grow over the last decade, including those at WWE’s NXT program.
“In the very near future, my contract with the WWE will officiallv come to an end,” reads Ciampa’s post. “I’d like to thank every single person who contributed to the last ten vears of this incredible journey… camera crew, ring crew hair and makeup team, seamstresses, referees. creative, producers, catering crew, commentators. ring announcers, travel department, medical team, talent reps, and anybody I may have missed. A very special thank you to all of the men and women who I’ve shared a ring and locker room with… nothing but love and respect.”
“With that said, for the first time in over ten years, I am available for all appearances, signings, photo ops, seminars, movies, tv appearances, fitness collaborations, sponsorships and so forth.”
Ciampa has been wrestling since 2005, and actually joined WWE briefly from 2005 to 2007. However, the star would leave the company and rise to fame in the independent circuit before joining WWE again in 2015. Once there, he became a superstar.
Throughout his time at WWE, Ciampa was a two-time NXT Champion, two-time WWE Tag Team Champion (alongside Johnny Gargano), and former NXT Tag Team Champion (alongside Gargano as well).
