The Punisher kills a major Marvel villain in the form of Kingpin in a 2026 release, and fans will be able to see how Daredevil deals with the shocking death in his two very different lives. Marvel has released two live-action Daredevil series so far, with the original being a 3-season hit on Netflix, and the new one a full-on MCU TV show.
Both Netflix’s Daredevil and Disney+’s Daredevil: Born Again feature Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) in a prominent role as the main villain of the projects, which are among the MCU’s best releases. However, Daredevil and Kingpin have continued to see their paths cross in the comics and other media over the years, and that remains true for 2026.
A 2026 Marvel Release Sees Daredevil Defend The Punisher
Enemy of My Enemy: A Daredevil Marvel Crime Novel will be released on March 24, 2026. The Daredevil book is written by Alex Segura, and it is the second entry in the “Marvel Crime Novel” series. The first book was focused on another street-level Marvel hero, Jessica Jones, titled Breaking the Dark: A Jessica Jones Marvel Crime Novel, by Lisa Jewell, which was released on July 2, 2024.
Marvel’s new Daredevil book, like both live-action series, is aimed at adult audiences. It can be read without any knowledge of other Marvel releases or even the Jessica Jones book. Enemy of My Enemy: A Daredevil Marvel Crime Novel focuses on the Punisher turning himself in after Kingpin and a police officer are killed. Daredevil senses something is afoot.
Given how Frank Castle is not known for killing cops or so easily turning himself in, Matt Murdock decides to defend him on trial as his lawyer while searching for clues as Daredevil to get to the bottom of Kingpin’s mysterious death and why Castle turned himself in. With Kingpin dead, the criminal world fights for his seat, making for an intense Daredevil story.
How Marvel’s New Daredevil Book Is The Perfect Companion To The MCU’s Daredevil: Born Again
After a successful first year, Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again season 2 will premiere on Disney+ in March, the same month that the new Daredevil book about the Punisher killing Kingpin will be released. All three characters featured in the book are expected to show up in the second season of the MCU TV show, making Enemy of My Enemy: A Daredevil Marvel Crime Novel its perfect companion.
In the MCU, Wilson Fisk is alive and well as the mayor of New York City, with Kingpin having declared martial law at the end of the first season and outlawing vigilantes. For fans who want to see Kingpin at the height of his power, Daredevil: Born Again is the perfect project, and for those who want to see what happens when Fisk is out of the picture, then the book is the go-to.
