Nicholas Galitzine Is He-Man in First ‘Masters of the Universe’ Teaser

By the power of Grayskull! The Idea of You‘s Nicholas Galitzine becomes the iconic 1980s toybox hero He-Man in the first teaser for Amazon MGM Studios’ live-action Masters of the Universe movie. The film, which is directed by Bumblebee‘s Travis Knight, will hit theaters on June 5, 2026.

The teaser opens with a Stentorian narrator as we flash back to the 1980s, a time of floppy discs, sugary breakfast cereals, and Saturday morning cartoons: a simpler time. But a hero from that simpler time is set to return, as Galitzine’s pink-shirted Adam gazes at the Sword of Power — the sword that allows him to call upon the power of Grayskull and transform into He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe! The teaser also gives us a tantalizing split-second glimpse of the fantastical world of Eternia, as well as He-Man’s friends and allies: stalwart defender Man-at-Arms (Idris Elba), the warrior Teela (Camila Mendes), the hulking Roboto (Kristen Wiig), and He-Man’s faithful feline steed Battle Cat.

What Is ‘Masters of the Universe’ About?

An adaptation of the classic 1980s toy line, cartoon, and comic book, Galitzine stars as Prince Adam, the scion of the throne of the high-tech barbarian world of Eternia. Exiled to Earth for years, his home has fallen under the sway of the tyrannical, skull-faced sorcerer Skeletor (Jared Leto, Tron: Ares). To save his world, he’ll need help from his friends, including Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba, The Wire), Teela (Camila Mendes, Riverdale), the Sorceress (Morena Baccarin, Deadpool), Fisto (Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Atomic Blonde), Ram-Man (Jon Xue Zhang, The Brothers Son), Roboto (Kristen Wiig, Bridesmaids), and Adam’s parents, King Randor (James Purefoy, Rome), and Queen Marlena (Charlotte Riley, World Without End). Opposing them are the fearsome forces of Skeletor, including Evil-Lyn (Alison Brie, Community), Trap Jaw (Sam C. Wilson, Dodger), Goat Man (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, Game of Thrones), and Tri-Klops (Kojo Attah, The Beekeeper).

This is Masters of the Universe‘s third foray onto the big screen. 1985’s He-Man and She-Ra: The Secret of the Sword bridged the original animated series with its (literal) sister show, She-Ra: Princess of Power. While that modestly budgeted film was a success, the same can’t be said of 1987’s live-action Masters of the Universe. Starring Dolph Lundgren as He-Man and Frank Langella as Skeletor, the film was a critical and financial failure, and helped sink its already floundering studio, Cannon Films.

Masters of the Universe will premiere in theaters on June 5, 2026. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
