Percy Jackson and the Olympians will return for season 3, and here is everything we already know about it. Since Percy Jackson season 1’s ending, it has been clear that the show has a strong audience. Be it those who are familiar with the original Percy Jackson book series or new audience members, the show was a success for Disney+.
In December 2025, Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 brought the show back to adapt the second book, The Sea of Monsters. After eight more episodes, a slightly more mature tone, and a story that even improved upon its source material, Percy Jackson only got better the second time around.
This has led many to wonder about Percy Jackson season 3. After all, the third book is considered a turning point in the series, given its darker tone, thus building anticipation for its adaptation in the Disney+ show. With that in mind, here is everything we know about the upcoming season, from more Percy Jackson book changes to cast news and story details.
Percy Jackson Season 3 Is Already Confirmed
Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 was officially announced in February 2024, a few months after Disney confirmed how strong the viewership numbers for season 1 were. Evidently, the figures were strong enough that Disney overcommitted; Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 3 was greenlit in March 2025, before season 2 had even begun airing.
This was a big show of faith in Percy Jackson, something that had not been the case before. The only other adaptation of Rick Riordan’s books came with the 2010 film and its sequel, 2013’s Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. These films were panned by book fans, who criticized how much of the original story was changed, meaning Percy Jackson 3 never happened.
Finally, though, a faithful adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Olympians began on Disney+ and will continue with season 3 thanks to its early renewal.
Percy Jackson Season 3 Will Adapt The Titan’s Curse Book
With season 1 being based on The Lightning Thief and season 2 adapting The Sea of Monsters, Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 3 will tell the story of the series’ third book, The Titan’s Curse. The Titan’s Curse is somewhat different from the prior two books in that it takes place in winter, as opposed to summer.
The book begins with Percy and Annabeth on a mission to rescue two half-bloods from a boarding school. This mission goes awry, thanks to the appearance of several powerful monsters and some of the Olympian gods. This kickstarts a quest to save a captured goddess, prevent Luke’s plans to grow Kronos’ army, and overcome the titular Titan’s Curse.
As alluded to, The Titan’s Curse is somewhat of a turning point in the Percy Jackson series. It is the darkest of the first three books, introducing several major characters on both sides of the conflict between the Olympians and the Titans. Percy Jackson season 3 will adapt this, following on from the ending of season 2.
Percy Jackson Season 3 Cast Details
Percy Jackson season 3’s cast will be similar to that of seasons 1 and 2; most cast members from the first two installments will return, with a few new faces added to the mix. Of course, Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri will return as Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, and Grover Underwood, respectively.
Charlie Bushnell will also return as Luke Castellan, once again leading the antagonistic forces of Kronos. Tamara Smart will reprise her role as Thalia Grace in Percy Jackson season 3, this time having a main role as opposed to her recurring appearances in season 2.
Regarding other members of Percy Jackson season 3’s cast that will return from previous installments, it is somewhat difficult to say. Characters like Clarisse LaRue and Tyson, who were main players in season 2, have smaller, if nonexistent, roles in season 3, based on the books. That said, it is hard to imagine Dior Goodjohn and Daniel Diemer being left completely absent.
The same can be said for several Olympian gods, who have appeared in previous seasons and likely will return in season 3, albeit in smaller roles. Toby Stephens, Courtney B. Vance, and Jay Duplass will return as Poseidon, Zeus, and Hades, respectively. Jason Mantzoukas is also likely to return as Dionysus, as is Adam Copeland as Ares.
Beyond that, Percy Jackson season 3 will include several new cast members. More Olympians will be introduced, with Artemis, goddess of the hunt, being the most prominent in the story of The Titan’s Curse. Artemis will be played by Dafne Keen, of Logan and Deadpool & Wolverine fame. Artemis’ twin brother, Apollo, will also appear, though his actor is currently undisclosed.
Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty and love, is another Olympian who will appear in Percy Jackson season 3, played by Kate McKinnon. However, in the books, Aphrodite’s appearance is said to change depending on who looks at her, meaning more actors could be cast alongside McKinnon.
As for other new cast members and characters joining Percy Jackson in season 3, several of them will have main roles. Saara Chaudry will play Zoë Nightshade, the top lieutenant of the Hunters of Artemis. David Costabile has also joined the cast as Dr. Thorn, a recurring villain throughout the story.
Holt McCallany has also joined the cast as Atlas, the Titan general of Kronos, who was cursed by Zeus to hold up the weight of the sky. Levi Chrisopulos and Olive Abercrombie will play Nico di Angelo and Bianca di Angelo, respectively, the two demigods being sought at the beginning of the movie, who play important roles in the story’s main quest.
Finally, Glynn Turman is expected to return as Chiron, with Jesse L. Martin rounding out the new additions to Percy Jackson season 3’s cast as Annabeth’s father, Frederick Chase.
Production On Percy Jackson Season 3 Is Underway & Will Release In 2026
Only seven months after filming on season 2 concluded, Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 3 began production. The cast reunited in August 2025 to begin filming on the third season, which took a brief break to promote season 2 in December 2025. By the time the new year came around, production had already restarted.
In a post-credit scene attached to Percy Jackson season 2’s finale, it was confirmed that Percy Jackson season 3 will be released in 2026. Filming was mostly completed by the time of season 2’s release, meaning only a few more scenes were left to shoot. These final few days of production are expected to wrap in March 2026, with post-production having likely already begun for the first batch of filming.
This likely tees up Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 3 for a December 2026 release date. Both previous seasons were released in December, the first in 2023 and the second in 2025. Therefore, it stands to reason that season 3 will continue this trend in 2026, with Disney+’s adaptation of The Titan’s Curse.
