Based purely on what little has been officially revealed about Grand Theft Auto 6 thus far, the action-adventure series’ tradition of planting players in a realistic setting and enabling them to behave however they please and do whatever they like appears intact. This can (and often does) result in criminal activity, let alone debauchery or violence, and this has caused Russia to reportedly threaten to ban Grand Theft Auto 6 unless content it perceives to be “immoral” is removed.
Of course, asking Grand Theft Auto 6 to not feature racy or graphic content—regardless of who is involved—is like asking Resident Evil to not have zombies, or Diablo to not feature demons. Likewise, being able to roam around and harmlessly do as one wants within the game world of Grand Theft Auto is precisely why the series is so popular, and Grand Theft Auto 6 is highly anticipated for that reason.
Being Bad In GTA 6 Is The Whole Point
Many Grand Theft Auto enthusiasts adore the franchise because they feel empowered by the freedom it bestows, with a ton of players likely content to cruise around in their favorite vehicle while listening to a preferred radio station. That said, even those who enjoy role-playing as Grand Theft Auto’s protagonists will be encouraged to fulfill that role immersively, and that can often boil down to anything from heists to tossing citizens from their cars to commandeer them.
Grand Theft Auto 6’s Lucia and Jason, for instance, do not immediately seem like decent, straight-laced individuals: Lucia served time in prison, and there’s no telling yet whether she deserved to be there or not. Meanwhile, she and Jason can be seen robbing a convenience store at gunpoint, so there isn’t any misconception about the kind of people they are, unless they’re somehow committing crimes with admirable motives.
Either way, it’s incredibly fun to play as characters who are morally questionable, as it broadens the number of features and options players have access to in gameplay. If male strip clubs are involved, that simply sounds like another fantastic way for players to enjoy all Grand Theft Auto 6 can offer.
The Gameplay Sounds Fantastic
Red Dead Redemption 2, while phenomenal in its own right, is far more niche as far as its player freedom goes, even if the landscape is arguably more compelling and conducive to lawlessness. It’s arguably much more interesting to be able to explore a modern, present-day landscape in an open-world Rockstar game, where players are constantly hit with societal commentary that reflects tropes and media from the real world and satirizes it in-game.
Red Dead Redemption 2’s story also demonstrated how poignant a Rockstar narrative can be amid the chaos of player freedom, and it’ll be intriguing to see if Grand Theft Auto 6 has a bleeding heart beneath all its “immoral” content. In any case, fans will undoubtedly flock to Grand Theft Auto 6, and it is guaranteed to be one of the biggest game launches of all time when it releases on November 19, 2026.
