Why John Krasinski’s 8-Year-Old Action Thriller Is Climbing Streaming Charts (#7 Trending In The U.S.)

John Krasinski’s Prime Video action thriller series, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, is trending on the streamer, just in time for the upcoming movie sequel. The Jack Ryan franchise is a surprisingly robust one, with numerous TV shows and movies made about author Tom Clancy’s fictional CIA analyst character.

From Harrison Ford to Alec Baldwin to Michael B. Jordan, many notable actors have donned the role of Jack Ryan. However, it’s John Krasinski who may have found the most success with the series. His four-season series, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, has even earned a movie sequel.

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan is an Amazon Prime Original TV series that premiered on the service in August 2018. John Krasinski stars as the titular CIA agent, though in this version, we see him in the early days of his career, where he’s still a low-level financial analyst until he uncovers a series of dubious bank transfers.

Through these transfers, Ryan becomes the lead of a massive investigation into Islamic extremist cells, and every season after, he confronts some other global threat. The series advances the timeline of the Jack Ryan story to the modern age, replacing the Cold War timeline of previous movies and shows.

There have been four seasons of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, with season 4 debuting in 2023, and each season has received strong reviews and an average of 75% on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite the acclaim, there will not be a Jack Ryan season 5, at least anytime soon. Instead, there will be a movie sequel.

The film will build upon the events from the end of season 4. At the moment, there’s no official release date, though it will be sometime in 2026. Longtime Jack Ryan director and writer, Andrew Bernstein and Aaron Rabin are developing the film, and most of the main cast are expected to return.

This is the first time the Amazon series has made the leap from television to theatrical release, and considering everything we know, the untitled Jack Ryan film has everything in place to be an exciting film, and even renew popularity of the show. You might be seeing the series rise on the streaming charts soon.

The film will presumably come right off the back of season 4, which may require that season to be watched to fully understand the story. So you might as well watch the other seasons of the show in that case. Jack Ryan never stays down long, and neither does Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, apparently.
