Pokémon Prisme Is Staggeringly Ambitious, Lets You Explore Four Regions

There have been some amazing fangames and ROM hacks for Pokémon over the years, but Pokémon Prisme definitely looks like it might be the most ambitious of the bunch. The game, which was started back in 2012, is out now in English (it was previously only available in French). So, it’s a great time to dive in and see what it’s all about.

The English announcement comes via the official Pokémon Prisme X account, but you can also view more about it over on the official website, which also now includes an English-language version. The game includes four different regions from past generations, as well as over 380 Pokémon to catch and over 175 quests to undertake.

Pokémon Prisme Shows How Far ROM Hacks Have Come

Pokémon Prisme boasts a ton of features, including a housing system, crafting system, outfits, and daily login rewards. The story revolves around Team Infinity, a newly-formed league of villains who want to control the various regions now that the other teams there have been disbanded. You can also rack up achievement points as you play.

All of this sounds great, and shows just how far ROM hacks have come in the past decade alone. Pokémon Prisme joins other ambitious fan projects releasing this year, including Pokémon Ruby 2. Honestly, Pokémon Prisme sounds pretty massive, and it sounds like it’s only going to get bigger since more regions will be coming soon.

There Are Four Regions To Explore

Pokemon - Kanto map

Right now, there are four regions from previous Pokémon games to explore: Kanto, Johto, Orange Archipelago, and Sevii Archipelago. Gen 3’s Hoenn region and Gen 4’s Sinnoh are being teased as later additions, bringing the total up to 6 once those regions are added. Considering four regions are already active, though, that should be plenty to keep you busy.

That’s good news too if you’re looking for something to tide you over until new Pokémon games release. A Gen 10 announcement is expected on Pokémon Day this year, and if you’ve already gotten through Legends: Z-A and its Mega Dimensions DLC, then you may be looking for something else to try.

Overall, Pokémon Prismelooks like an excellent fangame that highlights just how far ROM hacks have come. If you’re looking for something new to try in the world of Pokémon, then you might want to give this one a chance now that it’s out in English. Everything we’ve seen from it so far looks pretty darn impressive.
