Before he suits up as Captain America later this year, Chris Evans will be bringing his recent cult leader character to the masses as his recent dark comedy thriller movie Honey Don’t finally hits Netflix.
Directed by Ethan Coen, Chris Evans stars alongside Aubrey Plaza and Margaret Qualley in Honey Don’t, an R-rated neo-noir comedy following a private investigator who takes on a murder mystery case connected to a mysterious church. Evans portrays cult leader Reverend Drew Devlin, whose church is at the center of Honey O’Donahue’s (Qualley) investigation.
After launching in theaters in August 2025 and subsequently debuting on Peacock in October, Universal’s Honey Don’t will now begin streaming on Netflix in the U.S. starting February 3, 2026. Honey Don’t is among the biggest new titles coming to Netflix in early February, being joined by established films and series like Independence Day, Night Court, and The Lincoln Lawyer season 4.
Honey Don’t joining the Netflix catalog in February gives the star-backed thriller another opportunity to be introduced to a wider audience pool after a relatively quiet theatrical showing. Though its widest release was slightly more than 1,300 theaters, Honey Don’t only earned approximately $7.47 million at the worldwide box office, trailing far behind the $107 million gross of Evans’ other summer 2025 drama Materialists.
Upon release, Honey Don’t also received mixed reviews from both critics and audiences. The film currently holds a 45% score from critics and a 39% rating from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, placing it on the lower end of scores for Evans’ movies in the 2020s so far.
In addition to Evans, Qualley, and Plaza, Honey Don’t boasts an ensemble cast that also includes actors like Charlie Day, Kristen Connolly, Talia Ryder, Gabby Beans, and Billy Eichner. While Honey Don’t is Evans’ first collaboration with Ethan Coen, this marks the second installment in the director’s “lesbian B-movie trilogy” with Margaret Qualley after Drive-Away Dolls.
With Honey Don’t expected to achieve a surge in popularity upon hitting Netflix, Chris Evans is set to follow up this success this year with his official return as Captain America in Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, 2026. Currently, Doomsday is Evans’ only new project slated to release in 2026.
