They say good things come to those who wait, but given it’s been three years and counting, it’s understandable thatAssassin’s Creedfans might be feeling a little impatient. Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe was teased back in September 2022, and we’ve seen very little ever since. However, we might finally have a better idea of how long the wait will be.
With little more than proof of concept and some industry rumors, there’s very little known about Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe. Some theories suggest it will be a survival horror title, taking the franchise into bold new territory. With the narrative most likely revolving around the ‘Salem Witch Trials’ of the late 17th century, it’ll almost certainly have some horror elements and mature themes.
Assassin’s Creed Hexe Is Still A Way Off
Season Of The Witch Will Have To Wait
Up until now, we’ve only seen a teaser and a logo, which, after all this time, isn’t great. We’ve also just learned in the last few days that the lead scriptwriter has only just been hired. In a January 17 LinkedIn post, Christopher Grilli announced he had just joined the team for Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe. This likely puts the timeline for a game release well into the future, far beyond 2026.
Not all is lost, however, as it looks like in the interim, we are getting one of the most beloved installments in the franchise, lovingly remastered for modern consoles. Based on persistent rumors and reports, Edward Kenway and his band of merry pirates will soon be pulling off nautical heists across the Caribbean in Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Resynced.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag’s Remake Is Next
Hi-Ho Silver Lining
A reveal of the Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remake may be only moments away, and as it’s one of the strongest titles in the franchise, it’s definitely time to be excited. While we’d all love to explore Salem and perhaps gain mystical witching powers in the process, the thought of taking to the high seas with fan favorite Edward Kenway in glorious 4K is enough to scratch that assassin’s itch for now.
With the Xbox Direct only a few days away, we might get an official announcement soon, or perhaps we’ll even get a shadow-dropped peek at Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Resynced unleashed onto the internet without any notice. Getting to see any Assassin’s Creed game looking fully next-gen is certainly a treat, and it could be a great way to bridge the gap while we wait for Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe to reveal more content.
