ARC Raiders – How To Complete The Flickering Flames Project (Materials, Locations, & Tips)

The first major seasonal event for ARC Raiders is here, bringing with it plenty of goodies and challenges for returning players to sink their teeth into. On top of the several new items, quests, and even two brand-new event types, ARC Raiders also received a new project that you can dedicate your hard-earned resources towards.

With the first trial season having just ended, the latest Flickering Flames event is the perfect time to hop back in and farm for its rewards, especially with the second XP-based challenge following the road to Stella Montis. Simply by playing and completing various challenges through the Flickering Flames event, you’ll be able to unlock a plethora of free rewards and cosmetics that are well worth the effort.

All Flickering Flames Phase 1 Requirements & Rewards

Unlike ARC Raiders‘ Expedition Project, each tier provides instant rewards for donating resources to the cause, which range from individual items, event XP, and Raider Tokens to save for the upcoming Deck update. Thankfully, the first set of item requirements for the Flickering Flames event is definitely the easiest, with the first three being relatively common items you can find or create in your stash without much effort.

The only new collectible here comes in the form of collect Candleberries, which are a new nature item introduced during the event season. There are two main ways to get Candleberries themselves, with the first being simply passively earning them over the course of the season through the Gathering Candleberries event, which will grant you a total of 180 after obtaining 11,400 merits in total.

Given that you’ll need a total of 260 Candleberries in order to complete the Flickering Flames project, you’ll also need to go out and find them on topside during maps with the Cold Snap effect to gather the rest of them from red berry bushes, but you’ll need to be careful of the new Frostbite effect if you want to survive the journey.

All Flickering Flames Phase 2 Requirements & Rewards

The next few items you’ll need can be a bit more challenging to get a hold of, but will be relatively familiar if you’ve already been playing ARC Raiders for some time now. Aside from the standard increasing quantity of Candleberries, you’ll also need to check more residential locations for Candleholders.

While Industrial Batteries are something you’ll have to come across through normal looting, some maps like Dam Battlegrounds have several guaranteed spawns for Light Bulbs to spawn in, making them excellent places to stop by while you’re farming for any event items.

Even if the Red Light Stick Blueprint isn’t exactly the most exciting reward for this tier, simply playing on maps with the Cold Snap effect has a drastically higher spawn rate for blueprints in general.

All Flickering Flames Phase 3 Requirements & Rewards

Following the trend of increasingly difficult item requirements, the most challenging one you’ll come across is Film Reels. These have a low chance of spawning within Residential or Old World looting locations. One of the best places to look is locations like the locked Town Hall in Buried City, or the Archives of Stella Montis.

Thankfully, the other two items of Duct Tape and Snap Blast Grenades can both be purchased from Traders in Speranza for a relatively low price, although it is important to note that Celeste will only accept seeds in exchange for her crafting materials.

All Flickering Flames Phase 4 Requirements & Rewards

Taking a step back from the array of mixed-quality items in the previous stage, the fourth phase of Flickering Flames will require you to take down and loot at least 10 Fireballs for their Burners, which is easier to do if you take the time to loot them while scavenging for the other items on this list.

Given their common rarity, you’ll likely have come across a Coffee Pot or two in residential looting areas so far already. If not, the various homes in the south-east region of Buried City are a good place to look, although you’ll likely want to head over to somewhere like Dam Battlegrounds or Blue Gate for the two Water Filters required.

All Flickering Flames Phase 5 Requirements & Rewards

For the fifth and final phase of Flickering Flames, one of the most annoying item requirements for upgrading Scrappy rears its ugly head again in the form of needing seven Mushrooms. While you can head over to maps like Dam Battlegrounds or the northern oasis of Spaceport to slowly gather all seven, you’re better off waiting for a Lush Blooms event and trying to pinpoint baskets or nature areas that will offer more abundant amounts.

If you’ve already gathered the whopping 260 Candleberries needed to complete the Flickering Flames Banquet, the only things standing in your way are some tunes in the form of Music Albums to help finalize the celebration. Thankfully, while needing two of them can be especially brutal, there are plenty of high-rarity residential looting areas like the ones you’ve visited for Film Reels to find them in.

While there aren’t any additional rewards for completing the entire Flickering Flames project itself, it does provide a significant head start for progressing in the new Live Event, with the final reward offering the first Raider Tool skin in the history of ARC Raiders.
