Who’s Competing In The Jeopardy! Second Chance Tournament & When It Begins


The Jeopardy! Second Chance Tournament is about to begin, with 27 contestants returning to compete for three spots in the Champions Wildcard Tournament. Hosted by Ken Jennings, the Jeopardy! Second Chance Tournament features players who didn’t win their games, but who played well enough to deserve another opportunity to compete. The top three contestants from the tournament will advance to the Champions Wildcard Tournament, which features players who’ve previously won one to three Jeopardy! games.

The Jeopardy! Champions Wildcard Tournament winner will advance to the Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions, which features multi-game winners. Players who win five games in a row in the regular season automatically advance to the Tournament of Champions. The Jeopardy! Second Chance Tournament is the first of these three exciting events.

Who’s Competing In The Jeopardy! Second Chance Tournament?

There Are 27 Contestants In The Second Chance Tournament

The Jeopardy! Second Chance Tournament features 27 contestants competing in three groups of nine. Jeopardy! shared the list of contestants on its Instagram page. In addition, Jeopardy!shared the trios of contestants for each semifinal game on its official website.

Group 1 features Erik Nielsen, Erin Li, and Eugene Huang (Game 1); Dave Widmayer, Evan Argyle, and Ivanna Lopez (Game 2); and Pete Johnston, Allison Willard, and Chris Turner-Neal (Game 3).

Group 2 includes Rachael Gray, Guy Branum, and Jasmine Zhou (Game 1); Bob Callen, Molly Murray, and Michelle Tsai (Game 2); and Aaron Himmel, Andrew Wang, and Melanie Hirsch (Game 3).

The Group 3 contestants are Keegan Olson, Abigail Arnold, and Mustafa Hameed (Game 1); Emily Johnson, Dondi DeMarco, and Ricky Chandak (Game 2); and Ryan Sharpe, Jenna Hayes, and Dan Puma (Game 3).

The winners of these games will compete in a two-day final against the others from their groups, in which the player with the highest cumulative dollar amount wins. Those three winners will then advance to the Champions Wildcard Tournament.

When Does The Jeopardy! Second Chance Tournament Begin?

The Jeopardy! Second Chance Tournament begins on December 15, 2025, and ends on January 2, 2026. Within that time frame, there will be three groups competing in three semifinal games, followed by the finals. After the Second Chance Tournament, the Champions Wildcard Tournament will take place from January 5 to January 16, and the Tournament of Champions will begin on January 19.

The Jeopardy! Second Chance Tournament is a fantastic way to allow strong players who didn’t win to come back and have another opportunity to succeed. This group consists of spectacular contestants who dazzled their first time around on the show. The Jeopardy! Second Chance Tournament is certain to be a thrilling event.
