Warning! This article contains spoilers for Mayor of Kingstown season 4, episode 8.
Mayor of Kingstown season 4 just took the tension to the next level in episode 8 as Merle Callahan finds a way to further damage the McLusky family. While this season has spent a lot of time developing new characters who arrived in Kingstown, the biggest threat is still coming from people that have a lot of history with Mike McLusky.
However, that doesn’t mean that the other gangs, such as Frank Moses’ highly skilled mafia, and the Cartel, aren’t causing chaos that the Mayor is struggling to contain. And beyond that, the Kingstown Police Department is getting incredibly busy with several major incidents happening around the city.
All in all, Mayor of Kingstown season 4, episode 8, may have been the most active and intense episode of the season so far, setting the stage for the season finale, where Mike McLusky will need to step things up in order to ensure Kingstown doesn’t end up in ruins.
Mike McLusky Finally Has The Warden On His Side
Over the course of season 4, Mike and Anchor Bay warden Nina Hobbs have been at odds. Mike put pressure on Nina to get special privileges and access in order to continue his work as the unelected mayor, but Nina pushed back in a big way.
However, after Nina’s daughter was threatened by the Cartel, she appears to be less keen to help her undercover bosses and more interested in pursuing a partnership with Mike, where she might actually be able to break free of their control.
For instance, when they discover that Callahan has broken out of prison, Nina calls Mike before anyone else. Of course, Callahan is only a threat to Mike and his family and not the Cartel, but the point stands that she is now complying and working with Mike.
The Mayor Orchestrates A Clear Plan To Get Back At Frank Moses
After finding out the truth about Frank Moses’ intentions with Bunny, and the fact that he installed Lamar as part of his gang in order to try and take Bunny down, Mike and Bunny are getting ready to fight back.
Bunny is still bedbound in hospital, and when Frank visits, he needs to play nice to keep up his cover, but Mike is actively putting a plan in motion as he visits Lamar and coerces him to kill Frank’s closest ally.
Lamar does as Mike orders him to do, recognizing that neither Frank nor Bunny can trust him, and hoping that Mike will protect him from any fallout. However, it seems likely that Mike is playing these outsiders against each other in order to protect Kingstown and his long-time friend.
Callahan’s Prison Break Causes Chaos Across Kingstown & Beyond
Callahan makes a quick stop at Shaver’s house, where the Aryan Brotherhood has been running some of its drug trade from since Callahan landed in prison. Having heard that Shaver made negative comments about Callahan and his operation, Callahan takes his revenge by burning Shaver to death.
Not only that, but Callahan has his men break into Mike’s office, and burns down Mike’s family home. But all of that pales in comparison to how Callahan closes out the episode.
Stevie Gets Payback For The Brutal Murder Of Former Warden Kareem
While Callahan causes chaos on the outside, Mike and several members of the KPD make their way to Anchor Bay to visit the Aryan Brotherhood and get answers of their own.
The warden has the ABs lined up in the courtyard, where Mike, Ian, Stevie, and a few other KPD officers make their way to interrogate the inmates about Callahan’s plans and current location. However, when Stevie sees where they are meeting, he is reminded of the brutal murder of the former warden, Kareem, by these very convicts.
When questions fail to get any answers, Mike allows Stevie to unleash his anger on one of the Brotherhood members who repeatedly invokes a challenge from Stevie. Stevie brutally beats the man, almost to the point of death, but they still only get faint clues about what is coming for Mike’s family.
Merle Callahan Murders Tracy McLusky
Tragically, Mike and the KPD were not able to get information nearly as fast as Callahan, who used the recent chaos in Kingstown and his break-ins to uncover where Kyle McLusky’s wife, Tracy, and his baby son were hiding.
Callahan forces Tracy to make a call to Anchor Bay, and a phone is brought to the cell for Kyle to answer. However, he knows that something is wrong almost immediately when Tracy’s tone is off. Callahan is revealed to be in the house with her, holding her son, and threatening to kill both.
After causing Kyle extreme distress, Callahan hangs up the phone, giving Tracy a moment to beg for her son’s life, to which he responds coldly, causing her to believe that he will kill them both.
Mayor of Kingstown season 4, episode 8 then pauses for a beat outside the home, before a baby’s cry is heard while Callahan walks away from the house. Tracy is undeniably dead, but he hasn’t delivered the same fate to the innocent baby boy.
