Apple TV has shared the official trailer for Hijack Season 2, the next chapter of the hit thriller drama led by Golden Globe winner Idris Elba. For his leading performance in Season 1, Elba earned an Emmy Award nomination. The series is scheduled to make its return on January 14, 2026.
“In the thrilling second season, a Berlin underground train and its commuters are taken hostage, while above-ground authorities scramble to save hundreds of lives. Sam Nelson (Elba) is at the heart of the crisis on board, where one wrong decision could spell disaster,” reads the show’s new synopsis.

What happens in the Hijack Season 2 trailer?
The video features the return of Elba’s Sam Nelson, who, after facing a hostage plane crisis during Season 1, must now deal with terrorists who have taken over an underground train. It also shows the authorities seemingly questioning Nelson’s involvement due to his previous experience. The trailer highlights some of Season 2’s thrilling, suspense-filled sequences.
Hijack is created by writer George Kay (Lupin) and director Jim Field Smith (Truth Seekers), who previously worked together in Netflix’s Criminal. Joining Elba are Christine Adams, Max Beesley, Archie Panjabi, Christian Näthe, Clare-Hope Ashitey, Lisa Vicari, Toby Jones, Karima McAdams, and Christiane Paul.
The series is executive-produced by Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, and Tom Nash for 60Forty Films, alongside Kay and Field Smith for Idiotlamp Productions.
