Xbox Officially Unveils New Fallout Release Ahead Of The Game Awards

If you’ve been wondering when Xbox is finally going to remind us all that it now owns Fallout, wonder no more. A big new reveal just ahead of season two of the live-action series should be enough to get you excited. Just… don’t get too excited.

The good people at Xbox have revealed a brand-new Fallout-themed ‘PIP-BOY’ Xbox Controller via Design Labs, and it’s available to pre-order today. It might not be the Fallout 3 remake we’ve all been waiting for, but it’s certainly something

Fallout Is Back… Sort Of

I’ll take what I can get

These shiny new Fallout-themed ‘PIP-BOY’ Xbox Controllers come in two varieties: You can grab a standard controller, or an Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 edition. Both are draped in that classic Fallout green, and show the vital systems of the player character just as they’re displayed in the games.

As Xbox writes:

While the first Fallout designed controllers were focused on Vault Boy and all his different incarnations, we wanted Fallout fans to be able to gear up with the same tech that their characters use. The Xbox controller designs replicate that warm green hue that emits from your own personal Pip-Boy, with instantly recognizable game HUD icons to match.

The new Fallout controllers are available to pre-order from Xbox now. If I were in the business of huffing copium, I’d suggest the timing of this reveal, so close to The Game Awards, could mean something. As it stands, I find it much more likely that this new release is in support of Amazon’s Fallout TV series, which returns December 17.

We’re Definitely Getting More Fallout Eventually

We just have to be patient

While a new Fallout game might not be on the immediate horizon, we’re definitely headed back to the wasteland eventually. By all accounts The Elder Scrolls 6 is the main focus at Bethesda right now, but Fallout 5is clearly being talked about, given the huge success of the TV series.

Beyond that, Fallout 4 is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 early next year, and there are persistent reports that a remake of Fallout 3 is in development. Given these leaks came from the same source that correctly predicted the Oblivion remake, I think we can safely say it’s only a matter of time.

Frankly, it’s a good time to be a Fallout fan. We just have to wait a little bit longer to see what Bethesda might have been cooking, but something will be cooking. Mark my words.
