Eric Braeden, who plays Victor Newman, recently addressed rumors about his departure from The Young and the Restless. Introduced in 1980 as a temporary character, he was initially meant to appear for just a few weeks but eventually became the show’s main lead. He has been part of the series for over 40 years, and speculation about his leaving The Young and the Restless has sparked concern among fans. However, Braeden clarified on social media that he is not going anywhere.

On October 7, an unofficial Y&R fan page posted unverified news on Facebook with the headline, “Eric Braeden Says ‘Goodbye’ on Instagram – Announced His Official Exit From Young and Restless.” Braeden quickly debunked the speculations by commenting on the post, “SIMPLY NOT TRUE.”
In a 2024 interview with TV Insider, Braeden revealed that he has no plans to retire from the soap opera. He said, “I will not, I don’t want to.” He stated that now that his health is well, he will continue to do the show. Braeden added, “I feel very well. I really do. The [bladder] cancer is under control and I will have another cystoscopy in about a month, and if that is negative, then I’ll be free for a while. It’s never gone completely. You have to always watch, but signs are very good. The new knee is fully repaired. I do squats again and power cleans again and all that.”
In April 2023, Braeden revealed that a doctor diagnosed him with bladder cancer. In August, he confirmed that he was cancer-free during a Facebook live. Recently, he also took to Facebook to express his gratitude to the doctors for helping him fight the diagnosis. He posted a selfie along with a caption that read, “I have been cancer-free for the last 2 years, thank the doctors and my early diagnosis!”
