The tea surrounding Season 5 of The Boys is heating up this week, and no, it isn’t because of Homelander’s laser eyes. Today, we’re one step closer to that final showdown thanks to the first trailer dropping during the festivities at CCXP Brazil. Taking the stage in front of a room of adoring fans were the title’s creator, Eric Kripke, along with several of its stars, including Erin Moriarty, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, and Colby Minifie. Together, the supersized group opened up about what the sprawling and devoted fandom can expect when the series soars onto screens sometime next year. Additionally, we officially know when to expect the skull-breaking series to return for its final foray into madness: the very special two-episode premiere is slated for April 8, with new episodes weekly until the series finale on May 20.
In typical The Boys fashion, it has been a long wait in between seasons, with the fourth season coming to a close all the way back in the summer of 2024. Since then, the team has been increasingly busy penning and crafting an ending worthy of the mythos that surrounds the series, filming, and heading into post-production. Earlier this week, the first two posters graced our screens and promised that this would truly be the fight to end all other fights, with Butcher (Karl Urban) and Homelander (Antony Starr) going full-on scorched Earth in an attempt to take the other one out.
When we last left off with the titular vigilante group and their archenemies at Vought, things were not looking so great for our ragtag crew. But, in the teaser, it looks like they’ll get back together again — eventually. Several of the members are being held in a detention center that is liberated by Moriarty’s Annie January, who, as Gen V fans will know, has been busy building the resistance. With Styx‘s iconic song “Renegade” playing in the background (which Kripke previously used in a tense Supernatural sequence), we see Homelander beating the ever-loving crap out of an unseen opponent while Butcher gathers his friends and fighters for one last hoorah. Oh, and we are finally getting our first look at Supernatural star, Jared Padalecki— a moment we’ve been waiting for since his involvement was announced months ago.
Things Are About to Get ‘Supernatural’ on ‘The Boys’
Sure, we’re looking forward to seeing how things shake out between Homelander, Butcher, and the rest of the personalities we’ve come to know and love over the last several years, but a certain pocket of the fandom is extra stoked about the appearance of a handful of Supernatural favorites. The series, which was also created by Kripke, previously shared a star when Jensen Ackles appeared as Soldier Boy in the third season. Not only will Ackles reprise his role in Season 5, but he’s set to be joined by his Supernatural co-stars,Padalecki and Misha Collins, in a top-secret sequence. Our glimpse today didn’t give us a full view of exactly how the trio will be presented, but we’re beyond excited to see what the team has up their sleeves.
