Could we be any more surprised at this? Nearly 20 years after NBC abruptly axed Joey, the short-lived Friends spin-off has finally completed its journey — and in the most unexpected way possible. The show’s eight unaired Season 2 episodes, which were never broadcast in the United States, are now officially available to stream entirely for free on YouTube. Yes, Matt LeBlanc‘s fourth, or fifth, greatest TV show is now available to watch in its entirety.
That’s right, Friends completionists can now watch, in its entirety, the ugly stepchild of the series that they’ve pretended didn’t exist for the past twenty years. That includes nearly four hours of previously rare canon that most American viewers never had access to. And believe us, of all the episodes of television ever produced, these are undoubtedly some of them.
For nearly two decades, Joey was one of television’s most infamous “lost shows.” It wasn’t streaming anywhere, wasn’t available to rent digitally, and the Season 2 DVD was only released in select international markets. That all changed in March 2025, when the official Friends YouTube channel began rolling out two episodes of Joey every Tuesday. Now, the platform has finally uploaded all 46 episodes, including the long-mythologized unaired eight.
Every episode is free, surprisingly legal, and available worldwide — a massive relief for Friends fans who’ve been asking for a complete release for years. Even if they’ll regret it instantly after watching it, and wish they’d never found it in the first place.
What Is Joey About?
Premiering on September 9, 2004, Joey picked up after the events of Friends, following LeBlanc’s iconic Joey Tribbiani as he moved from New York to Los Angeles to finally make it big in Hollywood. This time around, the lovably clueless aspiring actor was joined by a new ensemble:
- Drea de Matteo (The Sopranos ) as Joey’s tough-as-nails sister, Gina
- Paulo Costanzo (Royal Pains ) as Gina’s genius son, Michael
- Andrea Anders (Bookie ) as Alex, Joey’s landlord andpossible love interest
- Jennifer Coolidge (The White Lotus ) as Joey’s eccentric agent, Bobbie
However, none of the other Friends — you know, the only characters you’d actually want to see — ever deigned to fly to the West Coast to visit Baby Kangaroo or his full-sized aortic pump. Joey is streaming now on YouTube. Check out one of the episodes above.
