Saying goodbye to the Halloween season is always difficult for scary movie fans who immediately feel inundated by the sheer scale of holiday-themed content that begins its bombardment on November 1. Luckily, this year, Christmas looks like it’s going to be full of chills — and we don’t mean the temperature — thanks to the arrival of Mike P. Nelson’s remake of Silent Night, Deadly Night. Today, as part of Collider’s Exclusive Previewevent, we’ve got a brand-new look at the blood-soaked tale’s main character, Rohan Campbell’s (Halloween Ends, The Monkey) Billy Chapman, as he takes a long, hard look at himself before he sets out on his annual killing spree.
Shirtless, Billy (Campbell) stands in a bathroom staring at himself in the mirror in our exclusive new peek at Silent Night, Deadly Night. At first glance, it appears as though the image might take place ahead of his yearly mass murder, thanks to the lack of blood on his body. But, a closer look reveals that perhaps he’s just stepped out of the shower and rinsed the blood of his enemies off of his skin, as the tiles behind the curtain are soaked through with a deep, bloody red.
Featuring a supporting performance from Happy Death Day and Shameless alum, Ruby Modine, Silent Night, Deadly Night centers its story on a young man named Billy Chapman (Campbell) who, as a child, watched his parents be savagely hacked to death by a man in a Santa Claus outfit. Now, still in the throes of severe PTSD, every Christmas, Billy dons his own Santa suit and gets to slashing. But this year is different, after he crosses paths with Pam (Modine), a young woman who may have just stumbled into Billy’s life at just the right time. Additionally, the film boasts an ensemble including Mark Acheson (Peter Pan & Wendy), David Lawrence Brown (The Pinkertons), and David Tomlinson (Fellow Travelers).
The Horror Latest Franchise Installment
The original Silent Night, Deadly Night launched more than 40 years ago in 1984, thanks to filmmaker Charles E. Sellier Jr., and quickly spawned a franchise. Nelson’s upcoming chapter, which the filmmaker also penned, serves as the seventh title in the lineup and as the second time the original story has been rebooted for audiences. The project is executive produced by Yolanda Macias, Erick Opeka, Steven Schneider, Jed Benedict, Brad Miska, Brandon Hill, Anthony Masi, Victor Zimmerman, Sarah Eilts, Matthew Helderman, Luke Taylor, and Grady Craig with Scott Schneid, Dennis Whitehead, Jame R. Thompson, Erik Bernard, Jeremy Torrie, and Tanya Brunel producing.
