Jack Black and Paul Rudd Star in Tom Gormican’s Anaconda Remake

Christmas 2025 is going to get wild. Jack Black and Paul Rudd team up this winter for Anaconda, a reimagining of the cult ’90s creature thriller, but this time, its premise is filtered through the irreverent lens of The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent director Tom Gormican. As part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event for the hottest new releases of Winter 2025, we are thrilled to share an exclusive new image of Black and Rudd. Our new look at the film shows the comedy icons side by side, bewildered at something off-camera and surrounded by the dense green beauty of the Amazon. What begins as a midlife crisis adventure quickly spirals into a fight for survival as the pair discovers that the jungle isn’t laughing back.

In Anaconda, Rudd and Black play two best friends whose lives have hit a wall. Tired of routine and haunted by the ghosts of youthful dreams, they decide to do something drastic: head deep into the Amazon to shoot the ultimate adventure documentary and revive one of their favorite films. What starts as a self-help trip for middle-aged men becomes a disaster of monstrous proportions when they encounter the jungle’s most infamous predator. It’s part satire, part survival story, and part big-hearted bromance.

‘Anaconda’ Will Be a Hilarious, High-Stakes Take on a Cult Classic

Director Gormican reunites with co-writer Kevin Etten, bringing a signature mix of absurd humor and heartfelt character work to the wilderness while blending creature-feature spectacle with sharp, character-driven comedy. The film leans into the original Anaconda’s pulpy charm while reinventing it for modern audiences, trading jump scares for chaos and emotion.

The ensemble cast includes Steve Zahn, Thandiwe Newton, Daniela Melchior, and Selton Mello. Behind the camera, producing duo Brad Fuller and Andrew Form give the movie its blockbuster scope, with Samson Mücke serving as executive producer. For Rudd and Black, Anaconda marks a rare pairing between two of Hollywood’s most beloved comedians and allows them to provide a mix of chaos, charm, and unexpected heart for audiences this winter. If Jumanji met Tropic Thunder and took a wrong turn into Jurassic Park, this might be what crawled out of the aftermath.

The action-comedy adventure Anaconda slithers into theaters on December 25, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest updates from Collider’s Exclusive Preview event, spotlighting the most exciting television and film releases in the coming months.
