Almost a month after her shocking elimination from Dancing with the Stars and the viral reaction to the same, Lauren Jauregui has finally opened up about the moment and what was going through her head after the shock elimination.

Lauren Jauregui thought her DWTS elimination wasn’t ‘supposed to happen’
On September 30, 2025, an episode of DWTS Season 34, Lauren Jauregui was shockingly eliminated from the competition. She finished in twelfth place in the third week of the show. Back then, she summed up how she felt with a one-word response, “pissed,” when asked about her exit.
Almost a month later, the 29-year-old singer-songwriter is reflecting on her exit. “There’s a lot of pressure that happens when you’re in front of millions of people and feeling something really vulnerable and then have a mic shoved into your face and asked how you feel,” she told PEOPLE recently, “And If I’m thinking it, I’m going to say it.”
She continued, “In my mind I was like, ‘Oh my God, I’m so upset. I’m so sad. This isn’t supposed to happen.’ [That] was just what my brain was telling me, and then the only word that came out of my mouth was ‘pissed,’ which is an interesting one.”
In the show, Jaregui partnered with Brandon Armstrong and delivered three lively performances. This also marked the first time fans saw her dance without singing. “I was able to give my 110% to just the dancing. That was really fun to do, honestly. Even though I was a little nervous sometimes, it was really fun to get out of my comfort zone,” she added.
“Dance is my first love,” she added, further explaining her reaction of shock and despair. But her bandmates, Normani, Dinah Jane, and Ally Brooke, were there for her on the night of the elimination.
She further discussed some positive takeaways from the show, like the friends she gained.
As of now, Lauren Jaregui is focused on her music, and she will soon release a new album.
