Murder Before Evensong made quite the splash when it hit streaming services in the UK and the U.S. in late 2025, following Canon Daniel Clement as he digs into a murder inside his own parish.
With just one season out and the hype still going strong, fans are already asking the big question: Is Season 2 in the cards, or was that the final curtain call?

Right now, Murder Before Evensong’s Season 2 fate is still up in the air. In other words, there’s been zero confirmation from the creators or producers about a second season or a cancellation.
The six-part crime drama Murder Before Evensong brings Richard Coles’ best-selling novel to life, with Harry Potter alum Matthew Lewis playing Canon Daniel Clement.
He is a soft-spoken parish rector whose peaceful routine in the sleepy 1980s village of Champton takes a dark turn when a body turns up inside the church. Things only get messier from there. Daniel lives with his opinionated, widowed mother, Audrey (Amanda Redman), and his push to modernize the parish ruffles plenty of feathers. Soon, as tensions rise, so does the body count.
Across its six episodes, Murder Before Evensong revealed its ensemble cast. Amit Shah from Happy Valley was DS Neil Vanloo, while The Day of the Jackal star Adam James played Bernard De Floures. One Day actress Meghan Treadway took the role of Honour De Floures, joined by Alexander Delamain as Alex De Floures.
The lineup also features The Crown’s Marion Bailey as Kath, Amanda Hadingue as Dora, and Tamzin Outhwaite as Stella Harper.
The audience’s response to Murder Before Evensong has been a mixed bag, though it has leaned mostly positive. On Rotten Tomatoes, it’s sitting at a solid 89% with critics, but some feel it plays it a little too safe with familiar mystery tropes.
Fans on online forums, meanwhile, are split down the middle. Many are connecting with its slow-burn pace and small-town charm, calling it cozy, British, and precisely what they needed. So, if we’re going by fan chatter, it’s pretty much a 50/50.
However, as of now, there has been no green light, no teaser, nothing. So for now, fans will just have to hang tight and hope this mystery series isn’t done solving cases just yet.
