Apple TV’s 10/10 Sci-Fi Masterpiece’s Runtime Update Promises The Best Is Yet To Come

Some new updates surrounding Apple TV’s Severance have been made, assuring viewers that the best bits of the show are yet to come.

After first landing on Apple TV in 2022, Severance earned almost unanimous acclaim from both viewers and critics for the brilliant execution of its unique sci-fi ideas. Although the show went on a significantly long hiatus for a while, it returned in 2025 with another compelling installment that cemented it as one of the best sci-fi shows of modern times.

Severance has been renewed for season 3, and its upcoming installment is expected to be no less incredible than seasons 1 and 2. While the flywheels of season 3’s production have been moving a little too slowly, its confirmed runtime update suggests that it still has a lot of fascinating stories to tell.

Severance Will Continue Beyond Season 3

After introducing one mystery after another almost throughout season 2,Severance season 2 ended its run on a fairly satisfying note by hinting at many answers. Season 2’s ending made it hard not to believe that the show could possibly conclude its overarching story with one more season.

Fortunately, Severance‘s creator, Dan Erickson, revealed (via THR) that season 3 will not be the show’s final installment. This development is relieving because it confirms that Severance has a lot more stories to tell. The show’s sci-fi concepts have been incredibly scalable from the beginning, so it makes sense that it will not end anytime soon.

The showrunner also revealed that, even though he and Ben Stiller have not finalized how many seasons it will take them to end Severance‘s run, they have a fair idea of how many they want to eventually do. He decided to keep the details of his plan to himself for now, but it is obvious that Severance will at least have four seasons.

Since the beginning, one of Severance‘s biggest strengths has been its pacing. The show has always been consistent with its story progression and has rarely left viewers with any dull moments or filler episodes. Its runtime update suggests that even its next installment will avoid having any pacing issues.

More often than not, mystery box shows initially leave viewers with a lot more questions than answers. Owing to this approach, they later struggle to resolve many underlying story threads and rush towards their conclusive arcs. With Apple TV’s Severance having ample time to perfectly pay off all story developments, it seems unlikely the show will disappoint viewers.
