Apple TV New Sci-Fi Series Will Solidify Its Streaming Reputation In November 2025

Apple TV‘s Pluribus will arrive in November 2025, and this sci-fi series should solidify the streaming platform’s reputation. In general, every streaming giant has its own niche. Netflix is the exception, since its original TV shows fall within a wide range of genres and styles. However, when looking at HBO, Disney+, Hulu, and Prime Video, we know what to expect.

HBO has a reputation for cinematic-quality TV shows and prestigious dramas. Disney+ offers either family-friendly programming or Marvel-based TV shows. Hulu is known for its adult-based comedies or dramas. Prime Video has a slightly wider range of big-budget TV shows. Then there is Apple TV, which is quickly developing a reputation for sci-fi shows with impactful social commentary baked right in.

Apple TV’s upcoming series, Pluribus, is yet another sci-fi series to follow up massively successful projects like Severance, Silo, and Foundation. Premiering on November 7, 2025, Pluribus follows author Carol Sturka (Rhea Seehorn), who appears to be the only one in Albuquerque, New Mexico, immune to a virus that makes everyone content, passive, and far too optimistic.

In the trailer for Pluribus, everyone around Carol seems aimed at “fixing” her. In a society where everyone is happy, even in the face of unimaginable disaster, Carol’s human emotions of depression, anger, and aggression are regarded as a sort of abnormality. Absolutely anything will be done to change this, to the point that Carol is even offered weapons of mass destruction—whatever will make her happy.

This falls right in line with Apple TV’s previous sci-fi projects, which observe humanity’s desperation to stop feeling unpleasant emotions or to gain control of society through promises of a trouble-free world. It’s clear that this streaming platform has really found its niche, and after the success of Severance, especially, Apple TV appears to be leaning all in.

Pluribus Could Be Even Better Than Severance

Severance is a cultural phenomenon. Not only does it feature a spectacular cast, but the top-notch writing combines the perfect balance of drama and comedy, reinforced by powerful social commentary. The bar has been set as high as it possibly could be. However, if anything could do just as well—or even better—than Severance, it’s Pluribus.

A particular highlight of Pluribus is that it was created by Vince Gilligan, the mind behind Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Seehorn worked directly with Gilligan in the latter series, in which she played Kim Wexler. This promising working relationship, combined with the massive success of Gilligan’s previous work, gives every indication that Pluribus will be a hit. It’s all but guaranteed that this will be a history-making, legacy-solidifying series for Apple TV.
