Warning! Spoilers ahead for Ghosts season 5, episode 2.Ghosts season 5 confirms the dark side of the Woodstone Mansion with a new reveal from some of its spirits. Despite starting fairly later than its peers, CBS’ fall 2025-2026 TV schedule is now in full swing, with all shows dropping new episodes every week. For one of its premier sitcoms, its latest offering features an interesting plot line involving Sass, Trevor, and even Isaac.
Years after Sam and Jay first moved into the Woodstone Mansion, the couple has found a workable set-up with their housemates. Jay still isn’t able to see the ghosts and oftentimes, the spiritual entities would try and bully Sam into doing them favors. That said, there’s no denying that everyone appears to be happy with their current dynamic. Unfortunately, this is apparently not the whole truth — something that is revealed in Ghosts season 5, episode 2, “Viking Wedding.”
The Spirits Still Want To Be Sucked Off Despite Woodstone Mansion’s Cheery Vibe
On the heels of Carol being sucked off in Ghosts season 5 premiere, the idea of being sucked off is once again a hot topic in the Woodstone Mansion. Despite Pete’s newfound love affair with Alberta, not to mention a nifty skill that allows him to roam around, he still realizes that he could have passed on if his ex-wife didn’t use Jay’s dire situation to sacrifice herself.
However, what’s worse than his reaction is the whole B-plot with Trevor and Sass, wherein they attempt to figure out the rules of being sucked off. It shows that despite having a great set-up in Woodstone Mansion, with Sam and Jay doing everything to make their time in the property as comfortable and fun as possible, the spirits still want to ultimately move on.
Trevor and Sass’ attempt at getting sucked off forces them to stay in the customer service phone line — hoping that a small good deed would pile up and eventually be enough for them to leave Earth. When Isaac finds out about what his friends are doing, he doesn’t think twice to join in on the fun.
Will Ghosts Ever Let A Main Spirit Get Sucked Off?
Overall, three spirits have been sucked since Ghosts premiered. None of them were main characters in the show. The first one was Sam’s mom, whose first appearance also marked her last. Then, there’s a random basement ghost that was taken as a red herring for Flower’s disappearance, and finally, Carol in Ghosts season 5, episode 1.
CBS bought some time with the departure of Carol, but as beloved as the main cast of the show is, it has to let go at least 1 primary spirit to keep the integrity of its premise. Sam promised to help all the ghosts move on from Earth, and not bidding anyone farewell means that she is failing that pact. Ghosts is currently renewed for at least one more year beyond season 5. If it runs longer than that, then it will definitely be forced to write out a spirit or two.
