Interview With The Vampire Season 3 Filming Update Reveals Shocking Episode Count

Interview with the Vampire season 3 has wrapped filming, also revealing its episode count ahead of the Immortal Universe show’s 2026 return. Interview with the Vampire season 3 will be pulling its story from Anne Rice’s The Vampire Lestat, the second book in The Vampire Chronicles series. It follows Lestat’s rock band career while revealing details about his past.

At the same time, the upcoming season is expected to expand upon the consequences of the end of Interview with the Vampire season 2, when Daniel Malloy published the show’s titular book. This leads Louis to become a target amongst vampires, while at the same time, he makes amends with Lestat. This leads to him taking the season 3 protagonist mantle.

Now, director Jane Wu has shared an image on Instagram of a clap board from Interview with the Vampire season 3, confirming filming has wrapped on the series. Wu’s image seemingly confirms the new season will have six episodes in total, with the production code 306 visible on the board. This would make it the shortest season of the series.

Wu’s image is a good sign that Interview with the Vampire season 3 is on track to release in 2026, as announced earlier this year. It’ll be another key installment in AMC’s Immortal Universe, which is based on Rice’s books, specifically The Vampire Chronicles and Mayfair Witches. The next series is Talamasca: The Secret Order, focused on the titular organization.

So far, every season of the Immortal Universe has been either seven or eight episodes long, aside from the aforementioned Talamasca, which will be debuting with six. This latest filming update means Interview with the Vampire‘s characters will have a shorter amount of time than usual for their next story arc to unfold, despite how much the show could cover.

The Vampire Lestat is a lengthy novel, much like Interview with the Vampire. This makes it unlikely the whole book can be adequately covered within six episodes unless certain parts of the book are cut out. Instead, it’s possible that, much like its predecessor, the book’s content will be split into multiple seasons so everything important gets the spotlight.

Although it seems Interview with the Vampire season 3 will have the shortest season of the series, it’s still expected to be an important installment that dives deeper into Lestat’s origins. With the Talamasca and the larger vampire world also involved in the story, the events that unfold may be able to make up for the smaller episode count.
