Two of the biggest streaming services in the world just teamed up for an unprecedented move — making things cheaper for subscribers. NBC and Apple have united and announced that Apple TV and Peacock will soon be part of a new bundle, beginning October 20. This new deal will save users nearly 40%, with the standard ad-included version of the bundle costing $14.99 and the limited ad version of the bundle costing $19.99. There is not yet any word on whether there will be a version of the bundle that’s ad-free. Still, this is significantly cheaper than owning both subscriptions separately.
Apple TV, formerly titled Apple TV+, has made a name for itself with its original programming. The platform first drew people in with TV shows led by big stars such as Jason Momoa, and it further exploded in popularity with other massive projects like Ted Lasso. It’s unlike any other streaming service in the world in that it doesn’t stream old movies or buy the rights to air movies from other studios. Everything you see on Apple TV is its own product, and not something from Warner Bros. or Universal Pictures temporarily leased out on a timer.
Peacock is very different. While it does have original programming, it falls back on its parent network, NBC, for much of its library. Shows like Chicago Fire and Law & Order: SVU begin streaming on the platform the day after the new episodes first air on NBC. Peacock has also been one of the first streaming services to expand into sports, thanks to its partnership with NBC. NFL and NBA games can be watched on Peacock, along with the biggest blockbusters from Universal.
Apple TV’s New ‘Yellowstone’ Replacement Is Dominating Streaming Charts
Apple TV’s latest project, The Last Frontier, has taken the streaming world by storm in the last week. The series stars Jason Clarke, and its set against the weathered backdrop of the cold Alaskan plains. It follows Frank Remnick (Clarke), a U.S. Marshal who finds himself dealing with a prison transport plane crash full of violent inmates. The series has been compared to Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone due to its gritty neo-Western nature, and it’s currently the most popular show on Apple TV. The third episode of The Last Frontier arrives today, and new episodes will release every Friday until December 5.
