Announced during a panel at New York Comic Con, BOOM! Studios revealed that they’re teaming up with DC Comics for an epic horror crossover uniting Swamp Thing and Something Is Killing the Children’s Erica Slaughter.
Writer and co-creator of SiKtC, James Tynion IV, discussed the highly anticipated clash of universes, revealing the series’ title: Swamp Thing Is Killing the Children. With a name like that, it seems Tynion may be placing Swamp Thing firmly in villain territory, though fans won’t know for sure until more details emerge.

In an interview at NYCC with Sami DeMonster, James Tynion IV teased that the emotional core of Swamp Thing Is Killing the Children will center on two brothers who are huge DC Comics fans. The older brother is obsessed with DC’s horror characters, while the younger prefers its superheroes, setting up a dynamic that mirrors the crossover’s central tension.
Tynion revealed that the older brother has a Swamp Thing poster on his wall, an image that terrifies his younger sibling. However, those fears soon begin to take physical form, manifesting into a creature within the world of Something Is Killing the Children. From there, Tynion hinted, the story takes several eerie turns as it “blends the two worlds together.”
The writer described Swamp Thing Is Killing the Children as both a thrilling crossover and a heartfelt tribute to his lifelong love of horror and DC Comics. Told through the eyes of Erica Slaughter, the iconic monster hunter from the House of Slaughter, it promises a haunting and emotional collision of eeriness and fear.
