House of the Dragon Season 3 just got one step closer to our screens after the show was glaringly absent from the Emmys last night. We’re more than a year removed from the House of the Dragon Season 2 finale, which was met with a controversial reception. The second season came around two years after the first, and it seems this trend will continue heading into Season 3. During a recent interview, HBO Max boss Casey Bloys confirmed that House of the Dragon Season 3 will premiere “just outside the 2026 Emmy eligibility window,” which closes on May 31, 2026.
This likely means that House of the Dragon Season 3 will premiere in June 2026, or in July at the very latest. Season 2 kicked off on June 16 last year, so it’s completely possible that Season 3 lands a release date around the same time. This will come after another Game of Thrones spin-off, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which will now premiere in January 2026 after being delayed from its original 2025 launch date. This will mark the first time that two Game of Thrones projects have premiered in the same year.
