With the release of season 3 well on its way, Jujutsu Kaisenand the full force of its fanbase are back with a vengeance, as there’s not only more of the anime to look forward to, but the first look at what’s in store will debut in film. Here’s everything you need to know in preparation for Jujutsu Kaisen’s return.
Season 2 last aired back in December 2023, having just concluded the Shibuya Incident story arcs over two continuous cours. Although it’s been a good wait for the next season to air, Jujutsu Kaisen fans haven’t been without since the series released a movie covering the Hidden Inventory and Premature Death arc in July 2025.
Now that Jujutsu Kaisen’s season 3 has been officially announced, fans are finally getting a continuation to the story that’ll really kick it into gear with the return and debut of several highly anticipated characters. Alongside them will be insane techniques, curses, and one of the best arcs in Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen.
Latest News On Jujutsu Kaisen’s Season 3 Production and Release Date
On August 31, 2025, Crunchyroll revealed that Jujutsu Kaisen’s season 3 will begin streaming exclusively on its platform starting in January 2026. Although fans had already speculated that news would have arrived surrounding the anime’s continuation, no one expected it would arrive so soon. During Crunchyroll’s panel at Anime Expo 2025, JJK’s voice actors announced it was in production.
Audiences won’t have to wait long and can look forward to an exclusive film that will debut ahead of the anime, giving audiences a good idea of what season 3 has in store. Titled Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution, this film will release on November 7th, 2025, in Japan, and on December 5th, 2025, for U.S. audiences.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution will cover Itadori’s Extermination Arc following the Shibuya Incident. Believing that Yuji Itadori had some involvement in the events that unfolded, the higher-ups sent Yuta Okkotsu out to execute him. This will mark Yuta’s first major appearance in the anime aside from the prequel film Jujutsu Kaisen 0, and will star his confrontation against Yuji.
What’s Next In The Story For Jujutsu Kaisen’s Season 3
Following the Shibuya Incident, the city is currently in shambles after curses and sorcerers alike met together in one large clash, ending with several of the former having overtaken Shibuya. Pseudo-Geto has taken Gojo and activated his Soul Manipulation to bring back cursed spirits. This lands season 3 at around the manga’s chapter #170, with Yuta’s return to Japan.
Continuing from there will be the Itadori Execution arc, which’ll receive a film adaptation in late 2025 and will likely be reintroduced in separate episodes once the anime begins airing on Crunchyroll in January 2026. However, what’s most exciting is season 3’s adaptation of the Culling Game arc.
In an almost homage slash bastardization of a Dragon Ball tournament, Kenjaku will create an arena where he gathers his vessels that are now hosting past spirits to participate in a class with any sorcerer willing to partake. Yuji, Megumi, and Yuta step into the barrier to confront Kenjaku, rescue Gojo, and save Megumi’s sister, Tsumiki.
Not only will the Culling Game bring together many familiar faces as they arrive to embark on this all-out brawl against curses and revived sorcerers looking to create havoc now that they are reanimated in modern times. This arc is full of newly introduced techniques from multiple sorcerers that are sure to bewilder fans now that it’ll be animated.
The Culling Games arc will likely be separated into two cours to give the animators time to recover in between all the battle-intensive animation Jujutsu Kaisen is going to require, with the second cour hopefully debuting sometime in 2026, even if it’s as late as fall or winter.
Characters Fans Can Expect To See In Jujutsu Kaisen’s Season 3
Given that the Culling Games are going to act as a gathering hub of the most elite sorcerers, both present and from the past, there are going to be numerous characters debuting in Jujutsu Kaisen’s season 3. Naturally, fans are going to see the main cast’s return, such as Yuji, Megumi, and Yuta, but also the other Tokyo first-grade sorcerers.
The missing third-year students, Kinji Hakari and Kirara Hoshi, will also be stepping away from their gambling ring to participate in the efforts to rescue Gojo from the enemy. Other allies that’ll eventually join Yuji’s ranks also include Hana the Angel and Hiromi Higuruma, who utilizes a shikigami and a courtroom to trap his opponent’s cursed techniques.
The biggest obstacles standing in the sorcerer’s way are undoubtedly the many revived past incarnations, such as Hajime Kashimo, who wielded wickedly strong skills even as an old man, and now has renewed techniques in his vessel. There is also Daido and Miyo, who will be instrumental in teaching Maki how to hone her skills, and then there’s Yorozu.
With her entrance through possessing Tsumiki Fushigoro, the audience will finally get more glimpses of Sukana’s past, back when he was a curse and unhindered. Yorozu also displays some phenomenal feats through her cursed techniques, raising the stakes as one of the strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen by specializing in construction and creation.
Where Can Fans Expect To Catch Jujutsu Kaisen’s Season 3 Return?
With so many fights, new characters, and major story beats to look forward to, Jujutsu Kaisen fans will undoubtedly be facing a feast come time for the release of the film Execution in late 2025 and the return of the anime in early 2026. The best place to catch season 3 will be on Crunchyroll, since it continues to dominate the IP over other streaming services.
Crunchyroll continues to host the series in full alongside both Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and season 2, which includes the Hidden Inventory and Premature Death arcs. Much of the series is blocked behind Premium access, starting at $7.99 USD a month for the basic plan. While other streaming services have parts of Jujutsu Kaisen, Crunchyroll will remain the go-to platform.
