The fight for Starz streaming supremacy has been hard-fought over the past few weeks. Currently, two of the platform’s most popular shows are delivering exciting new episodes week after week, leaving the battle for the crown regularly in flux. Often, the fourth season of BMF, the hip-hopseries likened to the Netflix smash hitTop Boy, has ruled the Starz charts. However, at the time of writing, that top spot has finally been snatched from BMF‘s hands as the prequel series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, claims the throne.
Five episodes in at the time of writing, Blood of My Blood‘s focus on Jamie Fraser’s (Sam Heughan) parents, Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater), and Claire Fraser’s (Caitríona Balfe) parents, Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine), has led to an intense and emotionally-charged opening to the series, one that has pleased both critics and fans. With a critics’ score of 91% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes,Blood of My Blood has earned a better score than that of its predecessor, Outlander. For those yet to see the prequel series, below is a look at the synopsis:
“Outlander: Blood of my Blood is a romantic saga that unfolds across time. From the battlefields of World War I to the rugged Highlands of 18th century Scotland, two fated couples must defy the forces that seek to tear them apart, intersecting in surprising and unforeseen ways.”
‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’ Is Worth Watching
Outlander: Blood of My Blood is a fantastic addition to the hit franchise, with the opening five episodes proving those in charge haven’t missed a beat. With half of the first season complete, there is no better time to jump on the popular bandwagon, with episodes continuing every Friday through October 10, with the finale titled “Something Borrowed.” In Carly Lane‘s review of the prequel series for Collider, she awarded it an impressive 8/10, saying, “Outlander: Blood of My Blood unquestionably maintains the magic of the original show, a steamy, emotional, addictively watchable prequel that succeeds at everything fans have loved from the beginning: phenomenal casting and performances, twist-filled drama, and epic romances that defy the odds.”
