A new trailer for Doc season 2 has been released. Season 1’s romantic cliffhanger left fans in limbo when it comes to Amy’s love life. But one thing was certain: the good doctor’s quest to regain her memories wasn’t over. In the season 2 trailer, Amy’s determination to fill in the gaps puts her at risk of losing her job.
Prior to her traumatic brain injury, Amy was the head of internal medicine. Now she’s an intern. Season 1 saw her under the supervision of Richard, her former friend, who attempted to frame her for medical malpractice. With Richard out, Dr. Joan Ridley is leading the department. The trailer makes clear she’s looking to make cuts.
As teased in the trailer released by Fox, over the course of two months, Joan will be evaluating each doctor to see if they’re the right fit for the hospital. Under normal circumstances, Amy would be a shoo-in. However, this review is taking place as she’s receiving medical treatment to recover her memories. Joan states that the side effects include increased emotion, distraction, and irrationality.
There’s also the possibility of physical side effects, as Amy’s shown with her nose bleeding. Joan’s concern is that Amy won’t be up to the task of performing her duties, and she has no qualms about stating this. She says, “You’re still auditioning,” ensuring Amy knows that her past as the head of the department isn’t relevant to Joan. Watch the trailer below:
What Does Amy’s Risk-Taking Mean For Doc Season 2
Amy has always been firm in her decisions. Wrong or right, she chooses the path she believes is best. Her stubbornness regarding her memory recovery will play a big part in the first half of Doc season 2.
There is definite cause for concern about her practicing medicine and going through these treatments. Gina is worried and Amy’s best friend is the neuropsychiatrist in charge of her case. At one point in the season, Gina will likely say they should slow down Amy’s treatment, but Amy will insist they continue.
Amy’s choice will also have an impact on her relationships. She wants her memories back so she can fully understand the changes in her life over the eight years she lost. But in trying to recover the woman she was, she could lose her job and possibly Jake, too.
Our Take On The Doc Season 2 Trailer
With a 22-episode order, the medical dramawill have more room to play with the premise of a doctor who’s starting over in her field, grieving the son she doesn’t remember losing, repairing her relationship with her daughter, and piecing together how the family she adored slipped through her fingers.
Amy will be doing this while coming to terms with the cold but effective doctor she’s become and while navigating her romance with Jake. He’d fallen in love with the woman she was, and she’s not that person anymore. Her feelings towards her ex-husband, Michael, complicate matters because she still loves him even though they both moved on.
Add these plot points to the new element that is Felicity Hoffman’s Joan, a doctor from Amy’s past, and there’s plenty of intrigue aheadin Docseason 2.
