AppleTV+’s ‘The 100’ Replacement Surges to the Top of Global Streaming Charts After Season 3 Trailer Drops

Apple TV+’s big-budget alien drama, Invasion, is enjoying a sudden rise in international streaming rankings just two days after the release of its Season 3 trailer. The show recently jumped to Apple’s Top 10 this week across different countries ahead of the third installment of the show, which is set to release on August 22.

Invasion is created by Simon Kinberg and David Weil, and enjoys roughly the same audience as The 100 because of its themes of apocalypse and survival with an alien-invasion touch. The plot centers around that alien invasion threatening humanity’s existence, told through the perspectives of five ordinary people across the globe. These individuals then face the chaos head-on and try to make sense of the events while they fight to survive. The ensemble cast includes Golshifteh Farahani, Shioli Kutsuna, Shamier Anderson, India Brown, and Enver Gjokaj.

The upcoming installment, as per the trailer, will likely circle the ultimate apex aliens as they reappear and humans try to fight them off once again. This storyline, for the first time, reportedly will also unite all the show’s protagonists. Over at Rotten Tomatoes, Invasion holds a critics’ score of 57% and an audience score of 50%. The IMDb rating, however, stands a bit higher at 6.2.

Apple TV’s Sci-Fi Series ‘Foundation’ Has Topped the Streaming Charts

Besides Invasion, another Apple TV+ sci-fi epic, Foundation, is dominating the streaming charts, with its latest season currently airing. As of August 8, the series sits at the #2 spot on the platform’s Top TV shows. Foundation is based on the award-winning science fiction book series of the same name by Isaac Asimov. It follows mathematician Dr. Hari Seldon’s plan to save humanity after predicting the fall of a galactic empire. The series is developed by David S. Goyer and Josh Friedman, and is produced under the creative oversight of David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Marcy Ross.

Invasion Season 1 and Season 2 are available to stream on Apple TV, and the third installment will be released August 22, 2025.
