Despite ‘Chucky’s Abrupt Cancellation, the Killer Doll’s Horror Series Is Getting a Swanky New 4K Steelbook

The spooky season is fast approaching. Because of that, we’re going to be seeing a ton of movie marathons on TV featuring iconic slasher franchises like Halloween, Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street. However, when it comes to the horror comedy subsection of the genre, few legends can go toe-to-toe with Chucky. The famous killer doll’s latest TV series may have been abruptly canceled, but Chucky is now getting a new blood-soaked physical media edition.

Thanks to Gruv, you can now pre-order Chucky’s Complete Series 4K steelbook. This includes all three seasons of the TV series on six discs. While the special features most likely remain the same as the individual season releases, the artwork features an “innocent” looking Chucky going back to school. He’s in front of some yellow lockers with blood leaking out. The design wraps around the back with different shots from the show taped to the lockers. The inside cleverly mimics opening the locker. This is where you’ll find a bloody knife, a steamy picture of Chucky and Tiffany and star Jennifer Tilly, who remains a horror queen. This jammed-packed edition will be $59.95 USD.

Chucky’s Return to Pop Culture Dominance

While the 2010s saw Chucky have a few lackluster direct-to-video sequels and a controversial remake of Child’s Play, the TV series was a return to form for the character. Chucky has seen many forms over the decades, but the villain has always worked best when he blends horror and comedy equally. The series more than understood that, with Chucky returning to his slasher roots and mean-spirited wise cracks.

The series also brought the franchise to a few fresh locations, including a religious boys’ home and The White House. The latter of which saw the series’ most creative and brutal kills to date. Also, the series casting horror legends like Devon Sawa (Final Destination) alongside Chucky mainstays like Tilly and Brad Dourif, gave the overall story a lot of goodwill. However, the glowing reviews and reception couldn’t save Syfy from canceling the series in late 2024. The show ended on a cliffhanger, but creator Don Mancini is currently working on the next film in the franchise. Hopefully, the upcoming installment can resolve some of the dangling plot lines of this murder-happy series.

Chucky’s complete series is currently streaming on Peacock. However, you can pre-order the new 4K steelbook on Gruv’s website. It’ll be released on September 23, 2025 – just in time for Halloween. You can also purchase each season of the show separately on both DVD and Blu-ray.
