The Patient is so well-written that anyone can lose themselves in the show from the moment it introduces Dr. Strauss and his patient, Sam.
The Patient is enthralling because it doesn’t give away everything quickly. It takes its time unraveling Sam’s battle against his instincts with Dr. Strauss’ help. Although The Patientis a slow-burn, the show has no dull moment. Everything falls into place, from the way Dr. Strauss’ life outside of Sam’s house is depicted to how the confined setting is used in the show’s narrative.
Domhnall Gleeson is also great on the show, giving a chilling performance as Sam. Fans of Steve Carell should definitely check out The Patient, even if it’s a lot different from his other work.
