After The Late Show With Stephen Colbert got axed by CBS, allegedly due to political pressure, President Donald Trump has claimed Jimmy Kimmel’s show could be next to go. He further stated that The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon would follow.
This controversial comment has stirred up the community, as fans are already worried about losing more late-night talk show veterans.
Is Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show getting canceled as well?
There is no official confirmation yet about Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show getting canceled, so it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, as of now.
The rumors about it emerged after President Donald Trump’s recent post on Truth Social. There, he blasted the late-night talk show hosts. He claimed that they had “no talent” and Fallon and Kimmel would soon be on their way to the exit. This came right after Colbert’s show was canceled.
Donald Trump wrote, “The word is, and it’s a strong word at that, Jimmy Kimmel is NEXT to go in the untalented Late Night Sweepstakes…shortly thereafter, Fallon will be gone. These are people with absolutely NO TALENT, who were paid Millions of Dollars for, in all cases, destroying what used to be GREAT Television. It’s really good to see them go, and I hope I played a major part in it!”
Stephen Colbert read Trump’s comment on his show and disagreed with the fact that Kimmel would be next to go. Colbert said, “Nope…absolutely not, Kimmel. I am the martyr. There’s only room for one on this cross, and I’ve gotta tell you, the view is fantastic from up here. I can see your house!”
So, after Colbert’s show was canceled, it is highly unlikely that Jimmy Fallon or Jimmy Kimmel will face the same fate.
But the prospect of this has fans worried. Many have even talked on social media about the future of such shows and talk show hosts if things like these continue to happen. For now, though, fans can relax as both Kimmel and Fallon have their contracts with their respective networks till later. While Kimmel’s contract allows him to at least complete the ongoing Season 23, Fallon can go on with his late-night talk show until 2028.
