The possibility of Iain Armitage coming back to network TV after Young Sheldon’s end is floated in an Instagram story by a CBS sitcom star. Ever since Young Sheldon’s ending, Armitage hasn’t appeared on network television. The Big Bang Theory prequel ending with Sheldon going to Caltech made Armitage’s appearance in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage difficult.
In a playful exchange over Iain Armitage and Asher Grodman’s Instagram stories, the Ghosts star suggests the perfect comeback role for the Young Sheldon star by proposing Armitage’s appearance in the ongoing CBS sitcom via a guest-starring capacity. Armitage’s answer shows his enthusiasm at the idea through the perfect still picturing Sheldon with his hand raised from Young Sheldon.
Grodman’s proposal to have Armitage guest-star on Ghosts is a fun, unexpected alternative to that. See Grodman’s posts below:
What This Means For Ghosts & A Potential Iain Armitage Cameo
Their Posts Show Armitage Is Willing To Appear On CBS’s Ghosts
Grodman and Armitage’s posts reveal their mutual respect for one another. However, Armitage’s enthusiasm is also clear from the exchange over their Instagram stories, meaning the Young Sheldon star would be willing to appear on Ghosts. It’s unclear whether that will happen or if it could do so as early as Ghosts season 5, but his willingness paves the way for it.
Armitage’s cameo could work either way, albeit it would be funnier if he played a character able to interact with ghosts, given their being Ghosts’ peculiarity and best quality.
Utkarsh Ambudkar’s also asked Lin-Manuel Miranda to appear as Alexander Hamilton in Ghosts season 4. Sadly, he received a positive answer proving how vital an actor’s willingness to participate is. In this case, Armitage’s enthusiasm about a potential Ghosts appearance thus bodes well.

Ghosts season 5 needs to address one major plot hole from the CBS sitcom, and it is one that affects the future of everyone from Isaac to Alberta.
The fantasy sitcom’s setting made the most surprising guest-stars appear on Ghosts, whether alive through Woodstone Mansion’s guests or dead via the supernatural beings enriching Ghosts’ lore, like ghosts and poltergeists. Armitage’s cameo could work either way, albeit it would be funnier if he played a character able to interact with ghosts, given their being Ghosts’ peculiarity and best quality.
Our Take On Grodman & Armitage’s Posts
Ghosts Can Hopefully Find A Way To Make An Iain Armitage Cameo Happen
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage letting plenty of Young Sheldon characters appear without giving Sheldon a chance to do so makes the prospects of Iain Armitage’s return to the TBBT universe unlikely in the short run. However, an Armitage cameo in Ghosts could still let him return to network television, making his First Marriage absence sting less.
Ghosts season 5 premieres on CBS on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at 8:30pm ET.
Armitage’s performance in Young Sheldon proved his impressive acting abilities, especially the comedic ones, given the show’s nature. These could easily translate were Armitage to guest-star in Ghosts, even with the sitcom having a more supernatural fantasy atmosphere. Hopefully, Ghosts can find the perfect role for Armitage, letting his return to network TV come sooner rather than later.
