Ted Lassostar Hannah Waddingham provides a promising update about season 4’s filming. Even though Ted Lasso season 3’s ending was written as a conclusion for Waddingham’s Rebecca Welton and the other characters, Apple TV+ is bringing the hit comedy series back for season 4.
According to previous reports (via CBR), season 4 filming was expected to begin in July in the Kansas City metropolitan area. This aligned with previous comments Waddingham made about production beginning this summer.
While speaking with Entertainment Tonight to promote her new movie, Smurfs, Waddingham now plays coy about Ted Lasso season 4. When asked whether season 4 has begun to film, she is only able to share that “we are going to be filming,” but she also knows story details about the new season, including that viewers will “find [Rebecca] in a far happier place.”

Even though Welton is unable to divulge too much information, her comments and lack thereof are an exciting sign for Ted Lasso season 4’s story and overall progress. If she knows specific story details about Rebecca, she has likely already seen the season 4 scripts, which means that it will not be long before filming begins, or it may have already begun.
Part of the reason she needs to play coy and be careful about what she says is that Apple TV+ has not made the official announcement about season 4 going into production yet, but all evidence indicates that this announcement will be coming soon. If filming does begin this summer, Ted Lasso season 4 could end up being released in the second half of 2026.
