ABC has released a teaser trailer for 9-1-1: Nashville, the upcoming spin-off series in the 9-1-1 franchise after the mothership show 9-1-1 and the first spin-off, 9-1-1: Lone Star. The series was originally announced in February 2025, following Lone Star’s cancellation.
9-1-1: Nashville teaser trailer suggests fiery tornadoes in Music City
The teaser trailer for 9-1-1: Nashville is set to a cover of “Ring of Fire” by Johnny Cash and seems to indicate that fiery tornadoes might plague the Music City early in the show’s run. The description of the teaser reads, “From Broadway to backroads, Nashville’s emergencies are anything but ordinary.”
The cast of the upcoming show includes Chris O’Donnell as Don Sharpe, Jessica Capshaw as Blythe, Hailey Kilgore as Taylor, Juani Feliz as Roxie, and Hunter McVey as Blue. Ryan Murphy, best known for TV shows such as American Horror Story and American Crime Story, co-created the series alongside Tim Minear and Rashad Raisani. Murphy’s longtime collaborator, Brad Falchuk, and actress Angela Bassett, who plays Sergeant Athena Grant-Nash in the 9-1-1 franchise, are attached to the project as executive producers.
During a May 2025 interview with TVLine, Jessica Capshaw reflected on her character in 9-1-1: Nashville. Capshaw’s Blythe is the wife of O’Donnell’s Captain Sharpe. “She’s everything you want to be, and you want to talk to your daughters about being,” the actress noted and later added, “It’s going to be very fun to see how that plays out.”
Murphy, Falchuk, and Minear co-created both 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star. The former aired on Fox for six seasons between January 2018 and May 2023, before shifting to ABC for Season 7 onwards. Meanwhile, Lone Star aired on Fox for five seasons from January 2020 to February 2025. Notably, Doctor Odyssey, another ABC series co-created by Murphy, is the extended part of the same fictional universe as the 9-1-1 shows. This was established via a Doctor Odyssey and 9-1-1 crossover event.
9-1-1: Nashville debuts on ABC on a Thursday this fall.
