Unlike seasons 1 and 2, Silo season 3 will likely tread the same path as another highly-acclaimed post-apocalyptic adaption, considering how it ended its run in season 2.

In Silo season 2’s ending moments, Juliette returns to Silo 18 and runs into Bernard. She convinces him that she might have found a way to save their home. However, before she and Bernard can safely return home, Juliette accidentally ends up in Silo 18’s decontamination chamber, where fire engulfs her and Bernard. The season could have closed here, but before ending its run, it harkens back in time and hints at the origins of the silos and the world-ending event that led to their construction.

The final shot in Silo season 2 confirms that the show’s next installment is all set to adapt Hugh Howey’s second book, Shift, from the original trilogy. Shift unfolds more like a spin-off that introduces a new set of characters and walks through everything from the origins to the occupancy process of the central silos. Owing to this, it would make sense for Silo season 3 to take Fallout‘s approach by revealing everything that happened to the world in the past while still moving the present timeline forward. Silo and Fallout have often been compared by viewers because of how similar their settings seem.
