Unfortunately, following Fritz’s death last year, his store has been experiencing some financial difficulties. However, these stores are the answer to whether Wolfe pays for the antiques. The resale value may increase due to the show’s popularity. However, many fans have found the price too hefty. In a report from the U.S. Sun, Wolfe has steadily increased prices, including marking up a pinball machine by 115%. Although the machine has been restored and was featured in an episode of American Pickers, fans believed that was far too steep a price. However, Wolfe is trying to turn a profit after transporting and restoring items. The most considerable cost to Wolfe that he must cover is, of course, the price he paid. Although some of the show’s structure is planned, Wolfe has stated that American Pickers is authentic.The premise of American Pickers is to showcase real antique hunting, which includes payment. It would be tricky for production to carry around large sums of cash for some of the more expensive items. However, since the show is generally authentic, it stands to reason that the payments are as well.

While American Pickers is a reality show with some elements of production and staging, the core premise of paying for items is authentic, according to Wolfe. There is no doubt that the production plays a role in the setup for American Pickers; however, Wolfe and the other stars have always maintained that the show is genuine, which includes paying for the antiques.
